The Super Cup Massi series has been a good indicator the last few years as to who is flying and who isn’t. Of course doing great at any of these pre-World Cup races doesn’t really matter that much. It’s still interesting, and all the XC racers are looking for points and more points for themselves and their teams. Some racers just stay home, or race elsewhere if there’s a chance at getting more points.
But Trek Unbroken had a nice showing this weekend in La Nucia. Riley Amos for 3rd in a sprint, Gwen Gibson in 3rd, and the darkhorse of 2026, Kelsey Urban in 2nd. That’s pretty awesome.
I could not find any English speaking videos however. It was posted earlier that there would be both Spanish and English speaking commentary, from different teams, but I looked and couldn’t find it. So I didn’t end up watching the whole race. Watching an hour of racing with no speaking is unbearable for me. And not to nit pick, as any free coverage is awesome, but so much was by drone, that it was really watching tiny ants. But what can I say, it’s not exactly a World Cup budget and any effort is appreciated.
So maybe the new Trek “Top Caliber” bike is paying dividends. This new bike should have been a 2026 model, released last year. Trek really looks behind the gun here, with Giant getting ahead of them and getting a bit of attention over Trek.
We’re off to a good start though.
