Just when you think the last new bar ends I’d ever buy are the old Ergon GS series, going back 10+ years now, Ergon does it again.
When looking at a thread on mtbr.com about “which bar ends” are these, I did some quick research at Ergon.com and see not one, but two potential new grips with bar endability. If that’s a term.
One has the new style regular grip with the palm wing, softer rubber and all, and a real stub of a bar end. I actually find myself just using the bar ends to have something to push out against and to hold my hands from sliding off the bars.
The other is weird, as it’s for touring and e-bikes it seems, but I think I might try them on my XC bike. I spend a lot of time with my thumbs hanging over the clamp of my XT/XTR brake levers when riding flat miles. So much so, I wore the finish off my brake levers. But these have a little nub for your thumbs, and while no true bar ends, say they are designed to grab them from the end anyway…is this how I finally get rid of my bar ends after 35 years?
I’m ordering both and we’ll see. Stay tuned. Or not.
